Early Childhood Education

According to UNESCO , Early childhood is defined as the period from birth to 8 years old. This is the time for significant brain development.  Early childhood education focuses on children learning through  play, since it's thought that children gain more knowledge when given the opportunity to play.

A parent or parents are usually a child's first educator and therefore early childhood education tends to start when the child is still with the parents. The first years of a child are very crucial to his/ her development and therefore if a child doesn't receive sufficient parental interaction during this time, they may have developmental deficit that could hamper their performance in kindergarten.

Teachers' role is to help children expand their understanding of themselves and their surroundings through extensive course of study that builds on the children’s questions and concerns while thoughtfully adding their own questions to enrich and deepen the children’s inquiry.

Many childcare centers have resorted to having children start learning at a very early age. The distinction between childcare centers being for care and kindergartens being for education, for example, has all but disappeared or been ignored and this therefore means there is need for qualified early childhood educators/teachers to offer proper guidance and this begs the question when is the right time for a child to start school.

Thank you, It is very critical for parnt to know how to strike a balance so that children will have plenty of time to play and also know when it's time to learn
